Braille ‘Learning by Feel’ Activities

Coming in 2024

Immersion sessions in truly learning by feel through the medium of braille for those who are partially or non-sighted but also for sighted children alongside, who are complete beginners whose parents wish them to foster a more well rounded and balanced way of relating to life which is not so frantic and is freer from mind. In the early stages, learning will centre around reading this ‘feeley’ language code through simple games and teamwork to stimulate the sense of touch (while blindfolded for sighted children).

Learning to feel the code significantly slows down the mind, and the need to achieve everything quickly, building the useful skill of patience as well as compassion and understanding for those who do not have eyes (though some may say, to be without eyes is a great gift!)

Sighted children may learn to read the braille code visually (which is still moving beyond mind conceptualisation to some degree), but preferably also by at least some ‘by feel’ experience. See also our Bilingual tuition page for information on other languages which we offer.

As part of our ‘learning by feel’ programme we hope to have access to the tactile books and audio books on loan through Living Paintings.
